February has been a great month in the Dolomites, with regular abundant snowfalls all month. The season will go through to mid-April, so there is a lot of skiing time still left.

January 14 – The Dolomites have had up to 70cms of new snow this week. Since Christmas it has snowed regularly every few days. The cover is excellent with dry powdery snow on the pistes and plenty in the off-piste areas. We are due to get some sunny clear days by the end of the week.

1 December 2009, the Dolomites has received a big snow fall over the last 24 hrs. This coming Saturday most of the lifts and ski runs will open up for the season. It will be a fantastic start to the season.

80cms of snow in the last week and the lifts will opening soon, check the webcams. We have secured some rooms on allocation at the 4 star Hotel Medil in Campitello for the week 16 – 23 January 2010 at special price. The package price of $1995 includes 7 nights with breakfast and dinner, use of the hotel’s wellness centre, 6 days ski lifts, return transfers from Bolzano or Venice and our resort host services. 2009/10 Season

We are open for bookings for the 2009/10 season. We have our new season prices on the website. The new 2010 brochure is available for download from the Brochure page or snd us your details and we will mail one to you. Contact us for a price or quote if have a request outside the normal weekly pacakage. We have plenty of accommodation for the Christmas week; apartments and hotels. The next winter season will open at the end of November. We hope to see you in the Dolomites!

What a season!

The 2008/09 season has been one the best seasons on record. Although it is not finished, the lifts start closing in mid-April, for most skiers they have put away the skis until next year. Record snowfalls in early December followed through with regular big dumps of snow most weeks of the season, leaving a big base of snow on the ski slopes. Go to the Photos page to look at the action from this season, click on the photstream and then slideshow to have a look at the lot. We are back in Australia and already planning winter 2009/10. We are open for bookings and remember to get in early for Christmas & New Year’s Eve bookings.

There is snow due this week again in the Dolomites, we had up to 20cms last week as the skiing and snow continues to be very good this season. There are now a lot photos in the new Season 08/09 photo gallery.

It has been a great week of skiing in the Dolomites, lots of fresh snow and powder skiing. One of the highlights was skiing first tracks at Ciampac and Buffuare ski areas all day.

12 December – The snow is continuing to fall in the Dolomites, there has been over 150cms this week alone and is likely to keep snowing over the weekend. Our guide Anthony has arrived in Campitello and is amazed by the amount snow around the village, there are no doubts about a White Christmas this year.

Meanwhile, long time guide Peter reminded me how the beauty of Italy goes way beyond skiing in the Dolomites. Lucky enough to be living in Florence in the lead up to the season he has been enjoying the soaring pink and green marble Duomo, the Boboli Gardens and is convinced there is a lifetime of art at the Uffizzi not to mention the Accadamia with its David and other works. Peter has been adding some semi regular comments to our Dolomites Ski Tours Facebook group page so please join and enjoy his often less than serious take on life in Italy and skiing the Dolomites. Oh, and he also mentioned that this economic downtown has some advantages – the sales have already started prior to Christmas, there isn’t a better time to find a new pair of Italian shoes or ski jacket!!

6 December – 400 lifts and over 1000kms runs open!

The “official” opening day of the season has seen the best start in 20 years. There is great base of snow on the ski fields and plenty of snow in the villages after snowfalls of up to 170cms during the week. The famous Sella Ronda circuit is also open.
